MINTER, ROBERT A. - Died at his home at Pine Forest last Friday. He was a member of the Forest Lodge No. 493, I.O.O.F. (S.S. Gazette, Feb. 21, 1908, Saltillo column dated Feb. 18th)



MINTER, MAY, MISS - Died at the home of her uncle, Ben Stephens, of Frederick, Oklahoma, Oct. 13, 1908, aged 14 years, and was buried at that place. She was the sister of Emmet Minter of this place, also of Mrs. Dr. Thomas who lives in New Mexico, Glen Minter of Dallas, and Ruth, Annie and Lee Minter. May was deprived of her mother when very young, and last year her father was taken away, after which she lived with her uncle, Ben Stephens. She was sick but a few days, and her death was a severe shock to the relatives. She was a member of the Methodist church at Pine Forest. (S.S. Gazette)



MINTER, SUSAN .E., MRS. Wife of R.A. Minter, deceased, died at the home of Mrs. I.M. Dawson, in this city, Tues. night of Bright's disease. She had been a resident of Hopkins County for many years, having lived in Pine Forest for a long while and having made her home in this city for the past several years. She leaves five sons and three daughters. (S.S. Gazette, Fri., Feb 19, 1915) Later report - Sam and Ben Minter, Wichita Falls; Joe Minter, Pine Forest; Mrs. D.A. Robinson, Pine Forest, were here to attend the funeral of their mother.



MINTER, GUY, Dr. - Died at his home in Pine Forest Sun. morning, presumably from a overdose of morphine taken Sat. morning. Dr. Minter had been despondent for some time, and made his will about two weeks ago. Sat. morning he drove over to the old home place. He talked to some renters a little, said something about going down in the pasture to look at some stock. Later someone noticed his buggy still there. He was found in the pasture in an unconscious condition. A scrap of paper was found near him which indicated that he had started to write a note to his people, but only a few words were intelligible. He was taken home and only gained partial consciousness for a few moments at one time, and then lapsed back into the sleep which merged into death. Funeral and burial occurred at Pine Forest, conducted by Eld. Foster. He was 42 years old. He was a son of the lamented Capt. Abb Minter, and was born and reared at Pine Forest. He qualified as a physician in early life, and had been actively engaged in the practice of medicine at Pine Forest for the past 15 to 18 years. He leaves a wife and four children. (S.S. MINTER, S.A. (ABB) - Ector Simms and wife, Sam Simms and Mrs. Garrie Henry [all adult children of the late Fannie (Minter) Simms] attended the funeral of their uncle, Abb Minter, at Pine Forest Sunday afternoon. (S.S. Gazette, Fri., Jan. 19, 1912) Saltillo Lodge, No. 631, Resolutions of Respect - Our brother Capt. S.A. Minter, the pioneer Mason of our Lodge, has passed away at the age of 77 years. A Mason 54 years; was captain of Co. K., Waterhouse Birgade. He was a brave soldier.



MINTER, FOREST - The little son of Dr. G.Z. Minter and wife, Margie, passed away early last Sunday morning, May 12, 1912. Early Sat. morning it was discovered that he had developed appendicitis, which demanded a prompt surgical operation, which proved of no avail. Had he been spared until May 27th, he would have been nine years old. The funeral was held from the family residence at Pine Forest, with M.C. McKinney conducting the services, with interred in the Odd Fellow cemetery. He leaves a father, mother, three sisters, and a little brother. MINTER, JOSEPH THOMAS, MRS. - Of the Pine Forest community, committed suicide Sat. night, by jumping or falling into a well. She had been assigned to the asylum at Terrell and was under bond awaiting vacancy in that institution, when the deed was committed. Funeral services were hald at Pine Forest. (S.S. MINTER, SYLVAN - The 11 month old infant son of Mr. & Mrs. E.B. Minter, died at the home of Mr. & Mrs. S. W. Bryarly on Tuesday evening after an illness of ten days. The burial occurred at the City cemetery. (S.S. Gazette, Fri., June 4, 1909)



MINTER, baby - Bob Minter and his wife, "Bama" had the death angel visit their home and take their infant baby Saturday morning. It was sick only one day. (S.S. Gazette, Feb. 4, 1916, Bethel column dated Jan. 31st) Later report - L.B. Minter and family attended the funeral of his brother's little infant baby at Woodland last Sat.



MINTER, DICK - Former citizen of Hopkins County, died Tuesday at this home in Hamlin. He was a nephew of Mrs. Ben Ramey and Mrs. Scott Gibson of this city, and son of Brit Minter of Oklahoma City. He is survived by his father, wife and five children, and one brother, Jessie Minter, Ada, Okla. He was reared at Pickton, but moved to Hamlin about ten years ago. The remains were brought overland to the home of Mr. & Mrs. Ben Ramey on Gilmer street. Funeral services and burial held at Pickton. (Hopkins Co. Echo, Apr. 6, 1934)



MINTER, MARY, MRS. [Widow of the late John Thomas Minter] - Died last Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tom White, at Como. The remains were buried Monday at Pine Forest. (Hopkins Co. Echo, Fri., Feb. 6, 1920)



MINTER, GRISBY [ son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Morgan Minter Sr.]- Died Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ben Ramey, after a illness of many weeks. The remains were taken to Pickton for burial. He was 35 years old and was born in Pickton country. (Hopkins Co. Echo, Fri., Ap. 30, 1920)



MINTER, TOM [eldest son of the lateJoseph Morgan Minter, Sr. and wife Ada]- A citizen of the eastern part of Hopkins County died Sunday at his home in Pickton with heart trouble He was a son of Morg. Minter and more than 50 years old, having lived all his life in Hopkins County. Burial took place in Pickton. (Daily News-Telegram Aug. 4, 1924)



MINTER, RUBY, MRS. - Wife of Mr. Emmitt Minter of the Pine Forest community. She lacked only a few days being 43 years old, all of which were spent in the old Hopkins County, about 16 of them in the Pine Forest community. At the age of 12 years she joined Baptist Church, but joined the Methodist Church at Pine Forest with her husband in 1913. She leaves her husband, four daughters, Elkin, Florrie Ruth, Doris and Jean Elizabeth; two sons, Howard and Ralph. She is also survived by her father, Mr. S.W. Bryarly, of Sulphur Springs, and one brother and three sisters. (Obituary dated 1930)



MINTER, GUS - Pioneer citizen, died at his home in Pine Forest Friday morning after an illness of several months. He was about 70 years old and had lived in this community all his life. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Bob Greenwood, Dallas; Mrs. Chas. McClure, Mrs. DeWitt Parnell, Mrs. Dalton Pogue, Pine Forest; Mrs. Lester McKinney, Weaver; Mrs. Homer Poole, Misses Gussie and Virginia Minter, Pine Forest. Brothers and sisters; Morgan Minter, Bob Minter, Syl Minter, Bill Minter, Mrs. Bill Byrd, Mrs. Fannie Simms, Mrs. Doll Stephens, Mrs. Mack Minter. Mr. Minter was twice married, his first wife being Miss Sallie Reneau and the second Miss Beckey Adkins. Funeral services were held at Pine Forest with burial in that place. (Hopkins Co. MINTER, EMMETT, MRS. - About 40 years old, the daughter of S.W. Bryarly and sister of Mrs. Jewell Clark and Mrs. S.F. Moore of Sulphur Spirngs, having lived here most of her life until her marriage a number of year ago. She is survived by her husband and six children. Funeral services were held at the family residence in Pine Forest with burial in that place. (Obituary dated Dec. 1929)



MINTER, GLEN LAFAYETTE - The Dallas Times - Herald carried a picture of Glen LaFayette Minter, and the following story of his death. Mr. Minter was born and reared at Pine Forest. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Sylvanus O. Minter, pioneer and outstanding citizen of Hopkins County, the former of whom is a native of Red Hills of Georgia.

Last rites for Glen LaFayette Minter, 63, assistant superintendent of mails in the Dallas post office system, were held Saturday at the First Methodist Church. The Rev. W. Angle Smith and the Rev. Roy Pingston officiating. Interment was in the Oak Cliff Cemetery. Born in Pine Forest Texas, Mr. Minter came to Dallas in 1901 and joined the post office staff, after teaching for several years in Hopkins County schools. He served for several years as a letter carrier, then was put in the main office as a clerk. He became assistant superintendent of mails in 1921 and held that position until his death, which occurred Friday. He was pst president of the National Letter Carriers Assoc. Local Branch, also the local branches of the United National Post Office Clerks Assoc. of Postal Supervisors. He had been amember of the First Methodist Church since 1901. (Daily News-Telegram, Mar. MINTER, PAT Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Jan. 31, 1938 - Pat Minter, negro preacher, who was in the truck with the former Sheriff Norman Campbell of Franklin County in an accident Thursday afternoon at Mt. Vernon, succumbed to his injuries Saturday morning. This brought the number of fatalities in the accident to two, as Mr. Campbell was killed almost instantly when a west bound passenger train, which was running late, ran into their truck on a street crossing. Funeral services were held for Mr. Campbell Saturday afternoon, with a large number of Titus County people attending. (Daily News-Telegram)



MINTER, Sr., JOSEPH MORGAN - An old timer and prominent citizen, died last Wed. night at his home near Como. His wife, Mrs. Ala Minter, died a few days prior. The burial was postponed on account of the expected death of her husband, with the view of burying them at the same time, place and service. He was a confederate soldier.
